Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb is all about comedy and adventure—but there couldn't help but be a little wistful sadness in the air at last night's premiere in New York.

Robin Williams' widow, Susan Schneider, walked the red carpet along with the films' stars, there along with all the others to enjoy her late husband's third turn as Teddy Roosevelt in the blockbuster franchise.

"I take really seriously the honor of it being the last movie he made, and part of that legacy," Shawn Levy, who directed Williams in all three Night at the Museum movies, told E! News on the red carpet at the Ziegfeld Theatre. "I think for me it's that on the one hand he could be crazy-funny, and also kind of heartbreaking with his humanity. That's a rare skill to have both."

"He made everybody feel important, no matter who, and he set an amazing example that way," added Ben Stiller, who plays the night watchman who teams with Teddy and a bevy of brought-to-life historical figures for modern-day adventures.

Dan Stevens, who plays Sir Lancelot, recalled to E! that Williams "would always come and tell you at the end of the day what a great job you'd done," and was always so excited for his fellow actors when they nailed a joke.

"It's a strange night, obviously," the former Downton Abbey heartthrob added, "but [Williams] really is the life and soul of these movies, and special."

"I literally had no idea that he might not be the happiest person in the world—which is incredible, really," Ricky Gervais also said about the late star, who took his own life on Aug. 11. "He was just really generous and genuine. And funny, he was just funny. He was silly, I loved him."
