Ginnifer Goodwin isn't actually a princess. She just plays one on TV. But the Once Upon a Time star is giving off a regal vibe in this floral embroidered Monique Lhuillier gown with matching Christian Louboutin Bis Un Bout pumps and chunky Rona Pfeiffer gems. The vintage vibe works perfectly with her cropped 'do and 60s-style makeup. Snow White for the win!
Nobody tries harder to dress against character than January Jones. Betty Draper's alter ego opts for a very modern look at the Emmys with this dramatically structured Zac Posen gown, peep-toe platforms, smoky eyes and slicked-back hair (earning her comparisons to Gwyneth Paltrow's Goth makeover back in 2002). A little more scowling and a little less smiling would really help January sell this edgy transformation. Badasses aren't so eager to please.
Sofia Vergara is all sequined hotness at the Emmys in this very glittery Zuhair Murad gown paired with some serious Neil Lane bling. It's like the Little Mermaid underwent a Latin makeover and is now vamping her way down the red carpet. Even with an engagement ring, something tells us Sofia will have no shortage of suitors competing for her attention tonight.
Nicole Kidman is stunning, as usual, in this statuesque Antonio Berardi gown with blue jeweled beading and Fred Leighton earrings. Not a sleek hair out of place or wrinkled inch to be smoothed. But then Stepford perfection is what we've come to expect from the Aussie actress and anything less would be a major letdown from this fembot.
Comfort is the kiss of death in fashion. So when Claire Danes says she picked this billowing Lanvin dress because "it's very bump friendly," and, "easy," it makes us cringe. Picking on a pregnant lady isn't our favorite thing to do, but the Homeland star could have done so much better than this big mustard blob. This is Hollywood, either stay home with a big bowl of whatever it is you're craving or dress up for the occasion.
Emily VanCamp is a presenter tonight. So we feel it's only appropriate to present her with an award of her own. We're not even going to debate if Revenge was robbed. This trophy is for seriously awesome style. Em is stunning in this delicately pleated J. Mendel gown with sheer bodice and bow tie Van Cleef bracelet. And as far as consolation prizes go, Best Dressed has a nice ring to it, no?
Did Lena Dunham lose a bet? Because this black lace overlay Prada gown seems like a cruel joke that got foisted on the multiple nominee after a bad hand. The high waistline doesn't remotely flatter, giving her a tiny torso and seemingly giant legs. Anyone who's tuned in to Girls (or tonight's opening Emmys skit) has seen Lena naked. At this point, her birthday suit would be a major improvement on this hideously oversized frock.
Less is more. Hayden Panettiere pays no attention to that advice tonight, draping herself in yards and yards of fabric. It's too bad because we think there's a pretty gold Marchesa dress under all that blue tulle, but it's impossible to tell. Instead, the tiny star looks as if she's wrapped in a coverup that belongs to someone three feet taller.
We're sending Julianne Moore the bill for our optometrist visit, because looking at her in this neon Christian Dior gown is giving us a crazy tick. Moore's a gorgeous woman and the Fred Leighton ice she's got on is fairly impressive, but this trendy color was meant for some funky young thing desperate to make an impression—not a classy lady who's already got a career she can be proud of. Really, Julianne? Really?!
Looking good is always the best revenge and Heidi Klum obviously kept this mantra in mind while getting dressed for the Emmys. The Project Runway host (and sort-of single lady) is all Old Hollywood glamour with her soft blond waves and seafoam Alexander Vauthier gown with its crazy thigh slits. Just the thing to make ex-husbands and new boyfriends sit up and take notice.
Tina Fey is killing it this year—her last for 30 Rock—in a slinky and strapless Vivienne Westwood gown with gold embroidery at the bustline, Fred Leighton jewels and upswept hair. "I may never be here again. So I'm gonna steal a bunch of stuff," she told Ryan Seacrest. Yep, she's swiping alright. The spotlight, that is. Sadly, this means she's got no excuse for every crappy outfit she's ever worn before. Shame on you, Tina!
Morena Baccarin is such a red carpet tease. The Homeland star is flashing some serious cleavage in this slashed-to-the-belly-button Basil Soda gown with Louboutin heels and David Webb jewels. But for those of you glued to the set waiting for a nipple slip, don't bother. Morena's got these ladies strapped down tight (too tight?) with a clear strap across the bustline. Like we said, tease!
As Kat Dennings herself admitted to our very own Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet tonight, "No matter what I do, they're there." So the Two Broke Girls star is embracing her cleavage, letting the girls shine in a strapless and ethereal J. Mendel dress, complimented by Neil Lane jewelry and a pair of towering Christian Louboutin platforms. Watch out, Kat. Now that they've had a taste of the spotlight, these two look ready to pop out and steal the show.
Zooey Deschanel just can't seem to escape her adorkable label. The quirky head tilt in every shot might have something to do with it or maybe it's the gauzy Reem Acra gown in the exact shade of baby blue that some modern-day hipster would wear to an '80s-themed prom party. The girl just can't help herself.
