Bosley played mild-mannered hardware salesman Howard Cunningham in the classic sitcom about the '50s and, in the process, created one of TV's most iconic father figures.
"We were a make-believe family for 10 years, and like a real family for over 30. He will be so, so missed," Henry Winkler, who played the Fonz, told E! News upon hearing of Bosley's passing.
On this beloved series starring Angela Lansbury as mystery writer and amateur detective Jessica Fletcher, Bosley played Cabot Cove's Sheriff Amos Tupper. The actor's Happy Days daughter, Erin Moran, made a guest appearance on a 1986 episode.
Bosley portrayed the titular Father Frank Dowling, a Catholic priest who also had a knack for solving cases in Chicago.
One of Bosley's final projects was the Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy, which also featured another TV veteran, Linda Lavin.
