Wolverine Shakes Swine Flu Fears, Ready to Hit Mexico

Wolverine is making a run for the border again.

Hugh Jackman announced via Twitter that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is ready to make its long-awaited, swine flu-delayed premiere in Mexico.

"I will bring Wolverine to Mexico City on May 26 to provide a moment of fun escapism and a treat for some of the loyal fans of the comic," the star tweets.

"My thoughts and prayers have been with all of those that have suffered directly or indirectly from the swine flu in Mexico."

Mexico City is ground zero for the H1N1 virus, which has sickened and killed scores in the country.

The X-Men prequel grossed a superheroic $85 million its opening weekend in the U.S. and Canada. The film's total worldwide take since roaring into theaters last week stands at $178 million, leading 20th Century Fox to greenlight both a Jackman-fronted sequel and a spinoff, focusing on Ryan Reynolds' character, Deadpool.

Wolverine wasn't the only flick impacted by the swine flu. Sony pushed back the release of Angels & Demons from May 15 to June 12 and Terminator Salvation from June 5 to July 31.

Fox says it plans to announce a new Mexican release date for Wolverine by Monday.
