Willis Strikes Back
Bruce Willis has thrown a legal left hook at the photographer who claimed the actor didn't pose pretty for him.
The Die Hard star filed a lawsuit Monday in Los Angeles against shutterbug Anthony Goodrich, alleging the shutterbug's allegations were "malicious, fabricated and defamatory."
Willis is seeking at least $1 million in damages. A status conference has been scheduled for Oct. 10.
Last week, it was Goodrich who got in the public licks. The paparazzo filed a police report alleging Willis assaulted him as he was trying to do his job last Tuesday night outside Koi, a trendy Los Angeles eatery.
Of even more note, at least to the Willis' camp, was the interview Goodrich gave to TMZ.com. Goodrich told the celebrity news site that Willis "smashed" his camera into his face. He posed for pictures showing a chipped tooth and scratched nose. "Bruce Willis Allegedly Assaults Paparazzo" headlines the Web over ensued.
"The true facts are that [Willis] did not physically 'assault' Goodrich, nor did [Willis] 'stiff-arm' Goodrich, nor did [Willis] strike the lens of Goodrich's camera 'pushing it into his face,' " said the actor's lawsuit.
The Willis legal action comes after the actor's lawyer all but promised as much last week. In denying Willis had played the bad guy at Koi, attorney Martin Singer said he'd talked to a restaurant security guard who said "Bruce did nothing wrong."
If there was any contact between Willis and Goodrich, the actor's publicist said last week, "it was inadvertent."
There was no word from Los Angeles police Monday as to the status of the Goodrich complaint.
Goodrich could not be located for comment.
