When Movie Makers Go Wrong—Die Hard Director to Do Hard Time

John McTiernan, the Hollywood blockbuster machine behind Die Hard, Predator and The Hunt for Red October, has been sentenced to a year in prison.

And it wasn't for that crime against humanity otherwise known as Rollerball.

No, the director was ordered locked up for for fibbing to the FBI and a federal judge after he got caught up in the wiretapping and racketeering case against former private eye to the stars Anthony Pellicano.

After withdrawing a previous guilty plea, the 58-year-old filmmaker reversed himself in July and admitted to making false statements by claiming he did not know the extent to which the former sleuth had been illegally eavesdropping on behalf of various high-powered clients.

McTiernan was also ordered  to pay a $100,000 fine and, once he gets out, complete three years of supervised probation. The filmmaker remains free on bond, pending appeal.
