Timothy Busfield's marriage is officially a bust.

The wife of the former star of thirtysomething and The West Wing has filed for divorce from her husband of 19 years, citing the catch-all complaint of irreconcilable differences.

Jennifer Busfield (née Merwin) filed a petition for dissolution of marriage in Los Angeles Superior Court Dec. 10, seeking spousal support and legal fees from her high-earning ex as well as requesting physical custody of the duo's 16-year-old son, Samuel.

The couple also has an 18-year-old daughter, Daisy.

The 50-year-old Busfield tied the knot with Jennifer back in 1988. It was the actor's second marriage and, consequently, will be his second divorce.

His first trip down the aisle, to actress and director Radha Delamarter, ended in divorce in 1986. That marriage produced one son, 25-year-old Wilson Busfield.

The new divorce filing would void Busfield's brother-in-law status with former West Wing costar Joshua Malina. Malina is married to Melissa Merwin, Jennifer's sister.

Busfield first made a name for himself back in the 1980s as one of the stars of the yuppie drama thirtysomething. His four-year stint as Elliot Weston on the baby-boomer drama earned him four Emmy nominations and one win for Outstanding Supporting Actor. He won the trophy in 1991, the final year of the show.

He had a supporting role in Field of Dreams and has directed many TV shows, including episodes of Ed, Las Vegas and WIthout a Trace.

Busfield most recently costarred on Aaron Sorkin's West Wing follow-up, last season's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which NBC canceled after only 13 episodes.
