Wedding Bells for Wynonna
Country songbird Wynonna--daughter of Naomi and sister of Ashley-announced Thursday that she was ready to swap vows with her longtime bodyguard and current road manager, D.R. Roach.
"I know that we can make it through anything because we have been coworkers and friends for the last 10 years," says Judd, 37, in a press release. "We laugh constantly and learn something from each other every day."
Wynonna and Roach have been on the road together for a decade--he headed up security for the Judds and still guards Wynonna's body as she continues her solo career. He is managing her current tour in support of her 2000 release, New Day Dawning.
"Two years ago I fell in love with my best friend, and now asking her to marry me makes me complete," he says.
This will be the second marriage for both. Judd has two children, Elijah, 6, and Grace, 5. Roach also has a child.
No wedding date has been set yet.
Speaking of no firm wedding plans, sister Ashley, 33, is fending off rumors that she has eloped with her racer fiancé, Dario Franchitti. Last Friday, the New York Post ran a gossip item claiming the youngest Judd was "missing in action" and quoting unnamed "pals" as saying she and Franchitti "slipped off somewhere to tie the knot."
But Judd's publicist says the story is not true and the couple, engaged since December 1999, hadn't made their union official. They are expected to get hitched by year's end, however.
In any case, the soon-to-be betrothed sisters have one thing going for them--they'll have no trouble lining up a singer to play the reception. We hear mommy Naomi's available.
