The best part of Golden Globes nomination day, besides actually finding out if your favorite show or actor made it onto the ballot? Hearing what the nominees have to say about receiving a nod for their performances, writing, TV shows, awesomeness, etc.

As most know, there are various approaches a star usually takes when commenting on their nomination, ranging from the ever-so-humble to the flat-out hilarious to the kind of twisted.

So what did stars like New Girl's Zooey Deschanel, Revenge's Madeleine Stowe, Glee and American Horror Story's Ryan Murphy and more have to say?

Comedy's New Girls Get Their Woo On! "I am completely overwhelmed with happiness! This is a huge vote of confidence for nerdy girls everywhere! I am so lucky to have this amazing job, and to collaborate with this incredible cast, crew, team of writers and producers. I am so grateful to the HFPA for giving us all this honor and grateful to be nominated with such talented and amazing ladies who I respect so much." —Zooey Deschanel, New Girl

"I have actually been up all night working on a New Girl script, so I didn't have to get woken up with the news! I wasn't expecting this at all. It came out of the blue and it feels so good—especially at 5:30 in the morning when you've been working all night. I'm excited that Zooey was also nominated because I love her work on the show. I don't know exactly what we said to each other, but there was a lot of screaming back and forth. I think I mumbled something about her really deserving it and then there was a lot of woo, woo, wooing. She's just over the moon. It really means a lot to us as a new show, and it's exciting to be in a category with those other shows."—Liz Meriweather, creator of New Girl

Revenge's Ice Queen Defrosts! "The nomination has absolutely stunned me. I'm so grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press for their recognition of Revenge so early on in the show's life, to Mike Kelley, our gifted creator for conjuring up an animal like 'Victoria,' and to Phillip Noyce, the brazen and bold director who brought us so much guidance. Emily VanCamp is my partner in evil doing and I'm lucky to be onscreen with her and the rest of our gifted cast. This is a happy, if unexpected moment. I'll need a bourbon at wrap."—Madeleine Stowe, Revenge

A Homeland Star Gives Thanks...and a Finale Tease! "I'm over the moon to be nominated for a Golden Globe. Thank you to the HFPA and thanks also to [executive producers] Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon for asking me to be part of such a special project. I might even be in Season 2 now..."—Damian Lewis, Homeland

A Sense of Humor from TV's Favorite Geek and Drug Dealer: "I was sure the publicist who was texting me was on mushrooms." —Johnny Galecki, The Big Bang Theory

"Perhaps the reason that I haven't won a Golden Globe is, I haven't showered with them. I've showered with all the Emmy voters, and that's turned out to work in my favor. I have a lot of showering to do with members of the Hollywood Foreign Press."—Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad

How You Doin', Joey Tribbiani?! "Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press. It's an honor and pleasure to be recognized by them, and for their support on this project that is so dear to me and fun to make."—Matt LeBlanc, Episodes

The Best of Both Worlds: "I think there will be some singing and some stabbing."—Ryan Murphy, Glee and American Horror Story, on how he plans to celebrate his shows' nominations

The Wild Card Nominee Celebrated with Mommy! "Thank you so much to the HFPA for this honor, I hadn't remembered the nominations this morning and was staying at mom's last night only to be woken up by the beep-beep-beep of text messages saying congratulations. When my manager told me about the nomination, I ran into my mom's room and we were both so excited—we were jumping up and down on the bed like two little schoolgirls! I am grateful to see my name alongside these other nominees, all of whom I watch and love. I am truly thankful."—Callie Thorne, Necessary Roughness
