Tyler, Tyler, Tyler. What are we going to do with you?

The Vampire Diaries' hybrid played by Michael Trevino has a lot of groveling to do in tonight's episode...and a lot of pain to go through if he wants to keep his girlfriend Caroline (Candice Accola) after almost killing her in last week's episode. We're pretty sure you can't heal a bite mark with an "I'm sorry!" Teddy bear and card, you know?

We chatted with Trevino about Tyler's attempts to redeem himself in Caroline's eyes, a potential face-off with his sire Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and how he feels about the new Klaus and Caroline chemistry that everyone's talking about...

Don't worry, Forwood fans: Tyler will apologize to Caroline in the beginning of the episode for that whole almost-killing-her thing that happened last week. "Say your boyfriend does you wrong, and then your boyfriend goes to your father and brings him into it—that's a pretty big apology," Trevino teases. "That's trying, I know that much. She's a little receptive to it."

Tyler will go to some pretty desperate measures to severe his sire bond to Klaus: he turns to Caroline's monster-hating father Bill (Jack Coleman). "In Bill's eyes, it's like, you have a serious problem. I know how serious your problem is, and you're trying to date my daughter, when you almost killed her?" Trevino says. "He's got some issues he wants to address with Tyler as well. It's almost an ultimatum, like if you want to date my daughter, you're going to have to break this sire bond."

Judging from the promo, it seems like it could be a pretty painful process and Trevino teases, "There will be blood." When asked if Tyler is going through all of this trouble to severe the sire bond for himself or for Caroline, Trevino says it's all for the girl. "I think he's going to do anything and everything to make it better. Everything is for Caroline right now." All together now: Aw!

While Tyler will attempt to break the sire bond, there's still the question of its breakability looming. "We find out just how deep this sire bond is and how serious it is, and what Tyler has to do—if it's even possible— to break it," Trevino says.  "At this point, I don't think Tyler knows how deep in this is. If Klaus wants you to do something, whether you want to do it or you think you're not going to do it, you're going to end up doing it. That's a scary thought."

So how does Trevino feel about that other hybrid Klaus moving in on his girl? Well, at first he wasn't worried...then he saw that scene in last week's episode between Klaus and Caroline. "I remember reading it, and I didn't think much of it. I'm like 'Okay, I don't think that would last.' But then I saw the episode, and I'm like, once they put the music in, and then Joseph's getting all emotional, I'm like 'Aw, man!' It was a really, really good scene, but I hope it doesn't last. I don't like it."

Finally, we asked Trevino if he'd like to see Tyler and Klaus face-off. Like us, he'd love to see a showdown between the hybrids. "I would like a showdown. I know Julie [Plec] would write something epic," Trevino says. "It'd be really good. Plus, just for me, with any kind of showdown, it's great to work with a great actor, and Joseph's pretty solid."

Who would you like to see Caroline with: Klaus or Tyler? Do you think Tyler will be able to break the sire bond? Sound off in the comments!
