Vampire Diaries fans, it's time to meet mommy.

Yes, that's right. We've just learned that the CW hit has cast the Original Mother, the woman who gifted us with three of TV's most badass vamps: Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt).

So who is taking on the fierce role? And when will we first meet her?

Sources confirm to us that Alice Evans will play Esther, the matriarch of the Original family. Described as beautiful, strong and fierce, we will first meet Esther in flashbacks in episode eight.

While we probably won't see the entire Original family in the upcoming flashback, here's what we do know about the episode: "We're about to start shooting an episode that takes us back to the origins story of the Original family," executive producer Julie Plec recently told us. "We will see Elijah again."

You may remember Evans from her stint on Lost as young Eloise Hawkings or from her recent guest appearances on Brothers & Sisters and The Mentalist. She is also married to Ioan Gruffudd, who fans know as Andrew Martin on the CW's Ringer.

The Vampire Diaries airs tonight at 8 p.m. on the CW.
