Have you ever gotten so mad at your significant other than you silently wished they would be eaten by a Velociraptor? Well on Terra Nova, that situation is a very real possibility.

We just sat down with Jason O'Mara, the very handsome star of Fox's new hit adventure series, and he spilled all he could about how the show is much more than just dinosaurs and how sometimes dealing with other humans can bring more agony than man-eating creatures…

"There are obstacles that prevent us from trying to achieve what we need to achieve week to week. But as usual mankind's worst enemy is himself, so that's really what we're exploring," O'Mara tells us.

He continues: "What if humankind was given a second chance, and what if we blew it? What if we started making the same mistakes all over again? When I opened the script, that was the kind of thing that interested me about it the most. Like everybody else, I was just intrigued with the idea of time-travel and dinosaurs, but I stayed for that premise which I think is really interesting."

Come for the dinosaurs, stay for the idea of humans screwing everything up again. That's why we tune in! Plus O'Mara promises Terra Nova will not forget about the dino of the week. "We're still going to have dinosaurs every week in some shape or form," he says. "And it's really smart the way they use the dinosaurs in the show, because one week, a dinosaur will be your friend, one week, it's a cute little dinosaur, the next week, it's this crazy man-hunting, man-eating pack of dinosaurs."

But O'Mara's Terra Nova sheriff character has more on his plate than just the roaming dinosaurs. "His primary purpose is really to ensure his family survives this whole experience. This whole world they're in is fraught with danger, and the more time they spend in Terra Nova, the more they realize that things aren't quite what they seem, and there are a lot of struggles going on," he tells us. "But also, as the local sheriff he's trying to ensure that law and order is kept. He's also concerned with his children, because he has been in jail for a couple of years when we first meet him in the pilot and he hasn't been there for the formative years of his teenagers' lives, so there's quite a bit of reparation and work to do on their relationships."

If anyone can charm their kids into loving them again, it's this guy. Are you liking Terra Nova after all the hype and hullabaloo? Or is it failing to meet your expectations? You know where to go to complain or gush.
