They're ba-aaack!

Last season's breakout couple Michael (Shane West) and Nikita (Maggie Q), who went on the run in is Nikita's jaw-dropping season-one finale, finally return to their ever-loving fanbase in the second-season premiere tonight. We've seen the episode (which, by the way, is awesome) and we think Mikita fans will be extremely happy with what they see unfold between the couple.

However, this is TV, a place where happy couples never last and where spy couples have bigger problems than what movie to rent on Friday night. We recently chatted with Shane West about Michael and Nikita's future and the obstacles they'll face in season two. (Deep breaths, Mikita fans. Deep breaths.)

Like any couple knows, living together ain't easy sometimes, which is something Michael and Nikita might soon learn. "Being on the run together, obviously it's not an ordinary life, so it's the amount of pressure it is just to survive and also to continue to make that relationship work now, which they never really had in the past," Shane explains. "It was never a normal relationship, and now it's trying to be a normal relationship for two pretty much abnormal people."

Shane hints that Mikita's mission to find all the black boxes might bring trouble to both Michael and Nikita, individually and as a couple, as they learn things about themselves and each other that could possible change everything.

"As they're opening up the secrets of the box, certain things are opening up about their past as well," Shane says. "Because of that, they're not necessarily thinking about taking down Percy (Xander Berkeley) all of a sudden, or dealing with Amanda (Melinda Clarke), who's running Division. Suddenly it's the personal things that they need to handle that they didn't know about themselves that come along the way." We're guessing this is where Michael's ex, Cassandra, and Nikita's ex-partner, Kelly, come into play.

Still, amid all the drama and fighting, there will be a few lighter moments for fans to look forward. The reappearance of a certain fan favorite "nerd" brings some welcome comic relief. "I think by forcing Michael and Nikita to be together, and they're going to start having help from Birkhoff (Aaron Stanford), you're going to see this strange family put together." After seeing the premiere, you can think of Birkhoff as Mikita's rebellious teenage son in a way. It's ah-mah-zing.

To hear more from Shane, watch our exclusive video interview above and then head to the comments to tell us what you're most looking forward to seeing in season two.

Nikita premieres tonight at 8 p.m. on the CW.
