Medium Finale: The Dubois Family Gets Massacred?

The two words to best describe the season finale of Medium are wow and huh?! Show creators have death, cliffhangers and shocking events in store for the June 1 finale, and we don't think they are just yanking our chain.

"I'm dead serious," show creator Glenn Gordon Caron tells us. "It's quite a finale."

Of course, he's not going to give away all the twists and turns, but he did throw us a major bone by giving up the opening scene...

Finale Shocker: "We see Allison Dubois [Patricia Arquette] coming home to a home that is not the one we know. It's a modest, one-bedroom apartment that's kind of drab," he explains. "Hanging in one corner is a picture of her family, everyone that we know. She goes to freezer and gets out a frozen dinner to eat. There's a knock on her door and there's a man standing there with food. And he says, 'I couldn't let you spend this evening alone.' She replies, 'Wow. You remembered.' He says, 'Of course I remember. A year ago your family was massacred. I can't let you be by yourself.' And she wakes up."

Oh, it's just a dream, right?  "Well, that is her dream, but we know her dreams tend to come true, and it is the last episode of the year. And we don't know if it's getting picked up, so maybe everyone is dying." We're sure he's joking about the "maybe everyone is dying" bit, but we're dying to know how this episode is going to play out.

Allison's Shot & Ariel Gets Ripped: The mysterious episode teasers from Mr. Caron don't stop there. In an episode titled "Then and Again" on April 13, he says, "Allison gets shot to death, and we go back five years to before Marie was born." Did he just say "shot to death?" "Yes, you'll have to see it to figure it out."

But more important is that in this episode we finally see Mr. Patience himself, Joe Dubois (the extremely fantabulous Jake Weber) lose his cool. "We're going to see a couple of interesting things that will really change the family dynamic. This is one of the best episodes we've ever done. It opens with Joe completely losing it, and he rips Ariel a new, well, how do I say it politely?" You don't. We get it. "Yeah, it's a vicious, knockdown, drag-out fight, and it takes on enormous proportions."

Medium Movie: "We're doing a trio of shows titled 'How to Make a Killing' with David Morse and Tracy Pollan that starts as a two-hour movie event on May 4 and concludes on May 11. Allison is approached by a woman, Tracy Pollan, who is a corporate intuitive—psychics who are hired by big multinational corporations to predict market trends and consumer needs. And she approaches Allison about working for them, saying she can make four or five times what she's making with the D.A.'s office at this company run by David Morse. It was too involved of a story to tell in one episode, so we're taking three hours to tell it."

Guests Galore: Jeffrey Tambor guest stars! In a "weird and interesting way. Allison wakes up, and she is Jeffrey Tambor, and he is Allison Dubois." The episode is titled "The Man in the Mirror." Allyce Beasley, whom Glenn worked with on Moonlighting, guests in a bank robbery-themed episode titled "The Talented Mrs. Boddicker." And let's not forget James Van Der Beek tapping into his dark side for tonight's episode, where he plays a sibling who "has an inappropriate relationship with his sister." And the show of all shows in terms of special guests, of course, is the May 18 episode with Rumer Willis, Balthazar Getty and the return of Anjelica Huston that we already dished about.

Help us figure out all this death and massacre business. How do you think these episodes play out? Discuss the possibilities here. It can't all just be a dream, right? P.S. Check out sneaks of the Beek on Medium below!
