Now that's a good BFF to have!

In case you missed the memo, Katy Perry is close friends with Raising Hope star Shannon Woodward. And apparently, all it took was one friendly little call from the actress and schwing! The California Gurl (and former Mrs. Russell Brand) is now set to appear on the March 6 episode of the single-cam comedy.

So who will Katy play? Hint: Not herself...

The pop star plays Rikki, a prison guard who claims to be a friend from Sabrina's (Woodward) past. In the episode, Sabrina gets arrested for participating in a protest, and gets sent to the slammer for two weeks. (Will they stop at nothing to keep Sabrina and Jimmy [Lucas Neff] apart?!)

Perry tweeted the above photo today, saying: "I hope I don't get type-cast." Doesn't she look pretty?!

"Shannon Woodward is my best friend," Perry said in a statement. "A couple weeks ago, I was home, just toasting up a frozen chicken fillet when she called me up and asked if I wanted to do something ‘fun' for a change and try out a guest role on her TV show. I thought, ‘Sure, I have nothing else to do, and I like chillin' with my best friend.' [Showrunner] Greg [Garcia] was nice, but I hope he's not secretly sabotaging my potential future career by typecasting me in the role of just a looker, so that I would never be able to play anything more challenging."

"Shannon Woodward told me that her friend Katy was interested in doing an episode and I thought, ‘Why not? Let's do your friend Katy a favor,'" Garcia said in a hilarious statement. "Then she came in and did a terrific job. She was hilarious. And now people are telling me that Katy is also a singer. I sincerely hope that her appearance on the show helps her get her singing career off the ground. It's a tough business."

Something tells us she'll do all right.
