GCB Premiere: Save It or Sink It?

GCB ABC

Desperate Housewives + Sandra Bullock's Hope Floats x the Real Housewives franchise = GCB! But is it a winning combination? We're about to find out.

ABC's new drama GCB starring Kristin Chenoweth and Leslie Bibb premiered tonight and introduced viewers to a tightknit Dallas community that truly exemplifies the "Everything's Bigger in Texas" motto: the hair! The outfits! The drama!

Now that you've watched GCB's series premiere, we want to hear from you: what did you think of it?

Reformed high school mean girl Amanda (Bibb) returns to her hometown of Dallas after her husband dies a most scandalous death. While one would assume a lady in Amanda's position would receive some sympathy from the people she left behind, that person would be wrong, very wrong, as she comes face-to-face with all the ladies she bullied and scorned in the past.

Her ultimate nemesis? Carlene (Chenoweth), a former ugly duckling who went through her metaphorical change since Amanda left town and is now the Queen Bee, thank you very much. Rounding out the women are Cricket (Miriam Shor), whose boyfriend Amanda stole, Sharon (Jennifer Aspen), whose future on the beauty pageant was destroyed by, you guessed it, Amanda, and then there's Heather (Marisol Nichols), the former outsider who has now been allowed entry into the inner circle.

Though the comparisons to ABC's Desperate Housewives, which is in its final season, are quite obvious, (we think of GCB as DH's Southern cousin with the same amount of sass and snark), it's safe to say GCB is off to a much lighter start. Whether that helps or hurt the series, well, we guess time will tell, but for now, we're enjoying the almost-cartoonish craziness of GCB
