Fox Schedule Shakeup: What's Happening to Alcatraz, Touch and The Finder?

Also, the network picks up pilots from Vampire Diaries creator Kevin Williamson and The Office star Mindy Kaling

After renewing Fringe for a fifth and final season, the remaining bubble shows on Fox, Alcatraz, The Finder and Touch, were left to sweat it out over their respective futures. 

Unfortunately, according to Deadline Hollywood, two of the three freshman series, Alcatraz and The Finder, received bad news as the network has decided to cancel both series, while giving Kiefer Sutherland's Touch a second season. Fox would officially confirm only that The Finder had been canceled.

Plus, the network picked up several series, including high-profile series from an Office star and the creator of The Vampire Diaries...

J.J. Abrams' Alcatraz and The Finder, which was a spin-off of Fox's popular Bones, both debuted at midseason with high expectations and pretty strong ratings. Unfortunately, the numbers went down thereafter andThe Finder was soon moved to Friday night. While Touch's ratings weren't that much better than Alcatraz and The Finder, it does have one thing those two shows don't have: star power in the form of Sutherland, who starred on Fox's hit series 24.

Fox also picked up several pilots, including high-profile projects from The Office star Mindy Kaling and The Vampire Diaries' Kevin Williamson. 

Kaling created and will star in the comedy It's Messy, which centers on a young doctor who is trying to navigate her personal and professional lives. "I love you, Kevin Reilly," Kaling tweeted. In case you aren't in the know, Kevin Reilly is Fox's entertainment president. Williamson's The Following is a serial-killer thriller (hey, that rhymes!) that stars Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy.

Also picked up by the network were Mob Doctor, a drama series starring Jordano Spiro and Friday Night Lights' Zach Gilford; The Goodwin Games, which comes from the How I Met Your Mother creators and stars Becki Newton and Scott Foley; and Ben & Kate, a comedy series about a sister hiring her free-spirit brother as a nanny. 

Fox is not officially commenting on their 2012-13 lineup until their schedule is announced on Monday at their upfront presentation in New York.
