Believe it or not, Dancing With the Stars was keeping a lid on the drama last night.

On Tuesday's elimination show, however, they revealed what went on backstage after Melissa Gilbert hit her head and Maksim Chmerkovskiy slipped during the tango. Gavin DeGraw carried the injured actress backstage (aw!), from where paramedics whisked her away to the hospital, and it turns out that Maks hurt his arm!

"It took away the pain from the ankle, knees and shoulders," Maks, all by his lonesome because Melissa skipped the show to rest, joked onstage. "She's a fighter...I'm looking forward to next week—actually, she's a little sedated, so she doesn't know what she's looking forward to."

But are the couple even going to get the chance? Remember, someone went home tonight...

Of course they're coming back! The voters aren't that cruel.

Even better, Gavin—who in addition to last night's display of chivalry also danced a pretty sick tango—was also out of the line of fire for the first time this season.

Gladys Knight, despite being in last place on the leaderboard, wasn't in the bottom two, either, meaning an elimination surprise was on tap for tonight.

Sure enough, tonight marked the end of the road for Sherri Shepherd, and the tearful cohost of The View—or the judges—sure didn't see it coming.

"All of us, we are in total shock," Len Goodman said when faced with the bottom two: Sherri and Roshon Fegan. "The thing is, after 14 seasons, we figure anything can happen, but this is beyond. The standard is so high, anyone can be in jeopardy and anyone can be safe."

"Thank you for letting me live a dream," Sherri said, failing to blink back tears. "The thing that scares you the most, that makes you say, 'I don't know if I can do it, I'm scared'—run towards it, because it's so amazing on the other side."

"She's an incredible person and I'm just really, really sorry. I didn't do a good enough job for you," her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, told her regretfully. "I had the most amazing time," she insisted.

But as Len said, anything can happen!

Free to tango on with Gavin, Melissa, Gladys and Roshon are Katherine Jenkins, William Levy, Jaleel White, new leaderboard champ Donald Driver and Maria Menounos.
