American Idol's Scott MacIntyre Goes Punk?
Michael Becker / Fox
Mild-mannered singer Scott MacIntyre, who was eliminated from American Idol last night, wasn't kidding when he told Paula Abdul, "It's my punk side coming out," when she asked about him playing electric guitar Tuesday night.
Little known fact about the blond, curly haired singer: He's well-versed in classical, pop, adult contemporary and, yes, even pop-punk music.
Check out what Scott has to say about his musical endeavors...
"There are a number of things that I do, actually, and they've all been put on hold obviously," explains Scott. "There is Scott MacIntyre, the pop-rock singer-songwriter. There is the Glutes, which is me and my brother, and we have a punk-pop, power-pop band along the lines of Jimmy Eat World, Yellowcard, Blink 182—that type of music. I wrote the music and produced that band."
And there's more. "There's the MacIntyre Family Singers, on the other end of the spectrum, which has done a cappella jazz, gospel music, Broadway-type music, classical."
Scott's plan is to get all of his music out there when the time is right. "The first thing I'm gonna do when I get back home is take a look at all the original material I have lying on the table and put together the best album I can on paper, and then I'm going to go for it," he says. "I'm gonna try to be prepared when the time comes."
On being the latest to leave Idol, Scott says, "There's not much difference between finishing eighth and finishing third."
What kind of music do you want to hear from Scott next?
