American Idol Elimination: Who Isn't in the Lucky Seven? Plus, Jimmy vs. Jennifer Heats Up

Mentor Iovine is certainly keeping the judges on their toes. Or at least the edges of their seats

Jimmy Iovine is certainly keeping the American Idol judges on their toes. Or at least the edges of their seats.

Once again, his appraisal of at least half of this week's performances—including those by Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips, Colton Dixon and, in particular, Deandre Brackensick—differed mightily from the judges' opinions.

Jennifer Lopez was raring to defend Deandre when Jimmy remarked that he could be going home "unless Jennifer, who's been supporting him all along, saves him."

She and Randy Jackson maintained that Deandre did a great job with DeBarge's "I Like It"—but who did the voters agree with?

America's on Team Jimmy, apparently.

Deandre was voted off the show—and the judges did not save him. Could it be that the judges are standing by what they wish the public was into and Jimmy is more tuned in with what the public actually wants? It is his business, after all.

"What?!" a girl could be heard screaming from the audience when Jennifer revealed that she voted to save him—but that she was outvoted.

But tonight was a real soul-crusher over all, with Elise Testone—who just one week ago triumphed with Led Zeppelin—joining Deandre in the bottom three after her Foreigner tune was lost in translation. Hollie Cavanagh was also in danger after yet another lackluster week.

But everyone else sailed on through into the top seven, including Jessica (who somehow needs to find "bigger songs," according to Jimmy), Phillip (who Jimmy says is in danger of being passed by other contenders if he "stands still) and Colton (who came in third or fourth last night, according to The Man).

Skylar Laine was praised from all corners, as was Joshua Ledet, who told Ryan Seacrest he was feeling a little light-headed and achey today.

Get better soon, man—you've got a finale to make.

Do you think America got it right? And, if so, how did Jennifer get it so wrong? Sound off in the comments!
