Vive la Résistance!

Today, the counterrevolution begins!

Anchor Mika Brzezinski, live on the air during MSNBC's Morning Joe, categorically refused to cover Paris Hilton's liberation from the L.A. County gulag in her top-of-the-hour news report.

"I'm about to snap," she says, as she tries by any means necessary to eradicate the story: be it by burning, shredding or simply begging the TelePrompter operator to "scroll up."

Now, of all the outlets you might expect to make such a move, Us Weekly has emerged as an unexpected ally of la résistance. Taking a page from the Associated Press, which earlier this year instituted a weeklong Paris news ban, Us has eradicated any mention of Ms. Hilton from this week's issue. Whoa.

We at E! Online, meanwhile, will continue to deliver our contractually obligated 82 daily Paris mentions, in accordance with the terms of our Faustian bargain with the celebrity industrial complex.

Nonetheless, we salute our fellow journalists for their radical stance on the significance of Paris in our time. Fight the power, people. Fight the power.
