Viewers Heart Brothers & Sisters, Apprentice

Brothers and Sisters ABC/SCOTT GARFIELD

Weekend TV's Winners: A heart-stopping, literally, Brothers & Sisters (11.9 million, preliminary Nielsen estimates showed) and Ghost Whisperer (11.6 million) were up over their season averages. The season premiere of The Celebrity Apprentice (8.8 million) was a bigger draw for NBC in the 18-49 demo than Heroes. The Amazing Race (10.8 million) was happy not to face the Oscars again. NASCAR and cartoons were a good mix for Fox.

No. 1 Watch: On Sunday, Brothers & Sisters ruled in the demo, blowing away the Tom Selleck TV movie Jesse Stone: Thin Ice, which led in total viewers (15.1 million). On Friday, nobody was bigger, per usual, than Ghost Whisperer.

You Lose Some, You Lose Some: In the 9 p.m. Friday battle of struggling cult shows, Friday Night LIghts (4.2 million) edged Dollhouse (4.1 million) for third place in viewers; Dollhouse edged FNL for third place in the demo. At 8 p.m., Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (3.4 million) didn't have anybody to beat up—it ran fourth, or last, among the big four networks in both races.
