Vegas Legend Danny Gans' Death Deemed Accidental

More than a month after Danny Gans passed away in his sleep, the coroner today announced the Las Vegas fixture's death was accidental.

The 52-year-old Man of Many Voices died after a toxic reaction to prescription pain medication, a reaction exacerbated by preexisting medical conditions, according to Clark County Coroner Michael Murphy.

"This was not drug abuse," Murphy said.

Murphy cited Gans' high blood pressure and a disorder that caused him to produce an abnormally high number of red blood cells as contributing factors to his death.

The coroner's office waited for independent toxicology and tissue test results to come back before announcing the cause of death.

The coroner's office met with Gans' family prior to the public announcement.

"We are trying to respect their privacy and treat them appropriately as we deal with all families…They've been very good to work with," Murphy said.

Gans, who had been the headliner at the Wynn Encore, died in his sleep May 1.
