Owen Wilson has finally released a statement but doesn't shed any light on the circumstances surrounding his hospitalization: "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."
Meanwhile, reports have left shocked fans wondering what went wrong. (Both Star and the National Enquirer are claiming that a family member found him after he allegedly attempted to take his own life.)
A source tells E! Online’s Planet Gossip Show cohost Tina Dirmann that the Kate Hudson breakup hit Owen really hard and he seemed to "fall into a funk" afterward. "In fact, we weren't even sure if that's why he seemed kind of down, because he just didn't open up," says the source. "But we assumed it was part of whatever he was dealing with, because that's when he seemed to kind of change."
Owen's absence was also noted around town. "He's been basically MIA all summer long," says Dirmann. Some of this can be chalked up to a recent trip to Saint-Tropez, but even while he was in L.A., Owen kept a low profile—skipping the Malibu beach scene and parties that were attended by his brother Luke.
Whatever happened, we wish him the best and hope to see him on his feet soon.
