Up All Night Premiere: Does Will Arnett Finally Have a Hit—or Not?

In the latest batch of fall TV premieres, one new comedy got off to a good start. And the other? Well, not so much.
Wednesday's ratings results:

YEAH, BABY!
• Up All Night (10.9 million viewers): On one hand, the Christina Applegate-Will Arnett-Maya Rudolph parental comedy actually scored fewer viewers in its post-America's Got Talent time slot than Jimmy Smits' quickly dismissed Outlaw did last fall. On the other hand, Up All Night scored way more viewers who count (i.e., adults aged 18-49). The comedy was, in fact, the night's most demographically desirable show.
ROUGH NIGHT
• Free Agents (6.3 million viewers): The Hank Azaria comedy couldn't hold onto Up All Night's audience, and, worse, looked like Outlaw in the demo.
• H8R (1.3 million viewers): It was no Hellcats—and, as you may recall, Hellcats got canceled.
DID EVERYBODY HAVE A LOT OF HOMEWORK LAST NIGHT, OR SOMETHING?
• America's Got Talent (14 million viewers) and Big Brother (7.8 million viewers) finales: Both down from last year's.
• Survivor (10.6 million) and America's Next Top Model (1.9 million) premieres: Both down from last year's.
