Twista Stinks Up the Place
This is one Twista that didn't blow over soon enough.
A tour bus used by the Chicago emcee emptied more than 200 gallons of raw sewage onto a downtown Indianapolis street Sunday night, prompting a full-fledged health scare and offending plenty of olfactory glands.
According to the Indianapolis Star, the 30-year-old Twista had just performed at Indy's Murat Theater when his convoy inexplicably let loose with the tanks. The contents flowed down the thoroughfare and was reportedly so pungent that employees of the nearby Omni Hotel called in police.
The cops in turn were so overwhelmed by the stench that they deemed the situation a potential biohazard and called in firefighters specializing in Haz-Mat clean-up.
After conferring with county health and public safety officials, the firefighters turned their hoses onto the mostly liquid refuse and washed it into the gutter.
As of Wednesday, local authorities were still trying to determine who was responsible for the scent-shattering spill from the Oregon-registered bus and whether they could issue a citation to the driver.
Reps for Twista could not be reached for comment.
When he's not befouling the environment, the hip-hopster has been busy making a comeback, having topped the charts in February with his latest major label outing, Kamikaze.
But despite the title of his latest single, Twista is no "Overnight Success."
He burst onto the scene back in 1991 under the moniker Tung Twista and was hailed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest rapper on Earth thanks to his rapid-fire rhymes. But he never managed much mainstream solo success, instead spending much of the decade guesting on albums by Jay-Z, Ludacris, P. Diddy and Timbaland.
His 1997 solo release Adrenaline Rush sold a respectable 800,000 copies and helped him land a deal with Roc-A-Fella Records, which released Kamikaze.
The album has already spawned one monster hit, the booty-busting "Slow Jamz" featuring fellow Chi-town native Kayne West and comedian Jamie Foxx.
Twista is blowing into the Windy City for a Thursday night gig at the Chicago Theater. Here's hoping he has his septic tank troubles resolved by then.
