Trump's Coif Survives Wrestling Match
Good news for Donald Trump, bad news for discerning beauticians of America: The combover is staying put.
Trump's hired World Wrestling Entertainment apprentice bested a grappler representing Vince McMahon in the so-billed "Battle of the Billionaires" Sunday, ensuring that the real estate mogul's dubious coif will live to see another smackdown.
The match, held in Detroit over the weekend as part of the WWE's nationwide WrestleMania 23 festivities, drew a record 80,103 foam-fingered fans and saw Trump's stand-in, Bobby Lashley, defeat McMahon's Umaga.
The pay-per-view match had been hyped for weeks, with the losing billionaire agreeing not only to face national humiliation by proxy for his wrestler's loss, but agreeing to get his head shaved post-match by the victor.
The fight was refereed by special guest and WWE alum "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, who possibly gained the loudest roar of approval during the night, when he took matters into his own hands post-bout and performed a "stunner" on Trump. The move came after Trump happily lathered up and shaved McMahon in the ring and while he was enjoying a celebratory beer with Austin.
The move, in which Trump's head got driven into Austin's shoulder, was only one of the spurious bouts of fisticuffs the Apprentice mastermind was involved in over the course of the evening. Prior to his own slamming, Trump took it upon himself to jump into the ring and give McMahon a mid-match beat down.
Other than the pay-per-view aspect, the evening was nothing too out of the ordinary for Trump. Last week, in a news conference hyping the fight, Trump again put the smackdown on McMahon, giving him a few slaps across the face in anticipation of entering the ring.
Of course, while McMahon is Trump's most recent foe, he's certainly not the most high-profile. That honor goes to View cohost Rosie O'Donnell.
Sounds like it might be time for a rematch.
