Dolph Ziggler, the pro wrestler who was on the receiving end of Hugh Jackman's promotional right hook Monday night, was claiming as much, tweeting this week that while the punch might have been staged, the injury that resulted from it wasn't.
In fact, Ziggler went so far as to claim that he got an MRI after the incident and confirmed that there was a hairline fracture in his jaw. But is it true? Did Hugh Jackman really break his face in this stunt gone awry? Someone get Vince McMahon on the horn, because this rumor is…
So false!
We hope you're sitting down for this one: professional wrestlers act for a living. And in this instance, Ziggler stayed in character a little longer than even his bosses expected.
"Hairline mandibular fracture," Ziggler tweeted Tuesday. "Guess I'll put my chipotle in a blender for a few weeks, its not ballet."
Later, referring to Jackman as Batman—a running gig from their match in which she purposely confused his comic book character's name—he wrote, "MRI scheduled for 1 pm…..possible fractured jaw #thanksBatman."
However, a source close to the match told E! News that Ziggler actually took the storyline into his own hands regarding his claims of a broken jaw, but that he is "fine" and there's no injury of any kind.
Except maybe a bruised ego now that his hands have been shown. But hey, that's what you get for messing with the Jack Man. OK, the name needs some work, but the message remains.
