Tommy Lee's Crüe Cut

He might not go away mad, but Tommy Lee might just go away.

In response to reports that he has parted ways with Mötley Crüe, which he helped found in 1981, the heavily tattooed rocker said Thursday that his future with his fellow metal-heads is "uncertain" in light of their recent lawsuit against Lee's personal manager.

"Based on internal band issues aired publicly, my future with the band is uncertain," Lee said in a statement obtained by E! News. "I have tried to meet with my band mates repeatedly without success but have informed them that I'm not walking away from my band of 25 years.

"It troubles me that the current legal issues which were filed by the corporations against my personal manager are separating us and causing more dysfunction. I hope we can work this out amongst ourselves."

However, court documents obtained by MTV News state that Lee "recently informed [bassist Nikki] Sixx and [guitarist Mick] Mars that he was resigning from the band, and his resignation was accepted."

But according to Lee, all is not said and done with the rest of the "Girls Girls Girls" guys, who sued manager Carl Stubner for more than $20 million, accusing him of giving their drummer bad career advice—including, but not limited to, pointing him in the direction of Tommy Lee Goes to College and Rock Star: Supernova—that cut into the band's recording and touring time and cost Lee some of his hard-core street cred.

Sixx, Mars and frontman Vince Neil amended their suit earlier this week, filing sworn statements from the plaintiffs and members of their entourage as to Stubner's alleged breach of fiduciary duty.

(A Los Angeles judge warned the guys on Aug. 22 that the lawsuit could not go forward as it was originally filed and gave them 20 days to add more facts to their complaint.)

In response to the amended complaint, Stubner, who claims to have been Lee's—and only Lee's—manager, and therefore was only obliged to act on the drummer's behalf, vowed to "vigorously defend" himself and his companies Sanctuary Artist Management and Carl Stubner Productions against this "spurious lawsuit" and "these baseless attacks."

"Certain members of Mötley Crüe and their representatives obviously intend to try this case in the press, rather than in the courtroom," read a statement issued by Stubner's rep.

"Indeed, their original complaint which they also tried in the press was thrown out by the Court…In an effort to get something that certain members of Mötley Crüe and their representatives want, but are not legally entitled to, they have once again filed a spurious lawsuit which Carl Stubner and Sanctuary will vigorously defend and seek the appropriate relief from these baseless attacks in the press.

"Tommy Lee stands by Carl Stubner and Sanctuary," the statement continues.

Stubner's attorney, Larry Feldman, said that the inclusion of evidentiary declarations (the sworn statements) usually means that the plaintiffs are "looking for something that they will not attain in the courtroom.

"From what I have seen to date," Feldman said, "there is not one kernel of truth in these allegations."

In their lawsuit, Neil, Sixx and Mars also accuse Stubner of reselling comped concert tickets at "scalper prices," demanding premium commissions and "fraudulently, maliciously and oppressively" keeping Lee from the task at hand—properly promoting their 2005 Red, White and Crüe tour and working on their upcoming studio album.
