Tom Sizemore Settles Abuse Suit
Tom Sizemore's managed to avoid another courtroom visit.
The embattled actor has settled a lawsuit brought by a woman who claimed he abused her.
Sizemore had previously pleaded no contest to a charge of domestic abuse against Brooke Ford, who claimed to be the thesp's girlfriend.
Ford told cops in December 2002 that the Saving Private Ryan star struck her, dragged her by the feet across the ground and threatened to kill her.
Sizemore's attorney at the time denied any intimate relationship between his client and Ford. "This is a shakedown and we are confident that it will go away," Robert Barta said in a statement.
Details about the current settlement were not disclosed.
It's not the first time Sizemore's been dogged by allegations of violence.
In October, he was sentenced to six months in jail and three years' probation for thumping former gal-pal Heidi Fleiss.
The judge postponed his sentence to allow Sizemore time to complete a stint in rehab and shoot some TV projects, including the starring role in ESPN's new Pete Rose biopic; the judge also cut Sizemore's jail time down to 90 days for good behavior (i.e., staying away from Fleiss).
Fleiss was less forgiving and sued Sizemore last month for undisclosed damages for domestic violence and property lost during their explosive relationship.
Sizemore has a history of domestic violence allegations. He was arrested in 1997 for felony spousal abuse after an argument with his then wife, actress Maeve Quinlan. But Quinlan refused to press charges.
As things stand, Sizemore's likely to be back in court soon since prosecutors say he violated the terms of his probation after allegedly testing positive for methamphetamine.
The actor's rep denied the accusation and claimed he was taking prescription drug Eldepryl for legitimate medical reasons. A rep for Sizemore declined to specify what medical condition may have prompted the (legal) drug consumption.
