Tom Arnold Separates from Wife No. 3
Guess Tom Arnold didn't have the best damn marriage period.
The comedian on Monday filed for a legal separation from his wife of four years, political consultant Shelby Roos. There was no immediate mention of the D-word.
A legal separation simply entails a permanent division of a couple's assets, and paves the way for an easier reconciliation than if the marriage was officially dissolved.
"He doesn't know what the future holds, but he does care deeply for her," Arnold's spokeswoman, Staci Wolfe, told People.
No reason was cited for the split in the paperwork filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Arnold's lawyer, Neal Hersh, requested that the twosome's Beverly Hills home and the actor's premarital earnings be recognized as separate from their community property. (In California, unless otherwise specified in a prenup, all joint property is split 50-50 in a divorce.)
The 47-year-old actor met the 34-year-old politico at the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles in 2000. Two years later, on June 29, 2002, they made it official, tying the knot at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills.
They have no children together.
Arnold doesn't have a stellar track record in the marriage department.
The Happy Endings thesp was married to Roseanne Barr for four years, from 1990 to 1994, before flaming out in a particularly acrimonious, public and costly split.
A year after that coupling went kaput, Arnold tied the knot with makeup artist-actress Julie Champnella, a union that again lasted for four years, from 1995 to 1999.
Arnold will have plenty to keep his mind off his latest marital meltdown. According to IMDB.com, he has no fewer than five films in the can and another in pre-production.
Most recently, he's wrapped filming on Oranges, a drama costarring Heather Locklear, Tom Sizemore and Jill Hennessy, set for release next year.
