A Toast to the Well-Heeled

Socialites and starlets alike have been making daily treks down to Culver City for front-row seats during L.A. Fashion Week. But tonight, they can save some gas money if they're in on a style secret: The king of stilettos is coming to Hollywood.

Saks Fifth Avenue is celebrating Christian Louboutin's West Coast arrival with an A-list soiree at S Bar. The French designer's red-soled shoes are the footwear staple of just about everyone in the Biz, from Angelina Jolie to Oprah Winfrey, so I'm pumped to see who will show up!

When I arrive at S Bar, Brent Bolthouse's newest venture, I momentarily forget about fashion because the space is so spectacular. Designer Philippe Starck turned a large square room with high ceilings into a trendy rendition of Alice and Wonderland. Photo-printed curtains of Versailles-like interiors line the room filled with mismatched club chairs and leather sofas, elaborate low-hanging chandeliers and silver candelabras. Even the bathrooms are cool. The Disney cartoon loops on a ceiling plasma!

After downing too many baked crab rolls (there's a tunnel connecting S Bar to neighboring sushi spot Katsu-Ya, which is supplying the to-die-for edibles), I get a chance to speak with the man of the hour about his work. "It is a line that is dedicated to women," Louboutin sings in his wonderful French accent.  "Women who like to play women and indulge, totally."

Tonight's indulgent women—all wearing Louboutin shoes, of course—include Molly Sims, Elisabeth Röhm, Minka Kelly and Rachel Bilson, who just arrived with a Kristen Bell look-alike. Wait! That actually is the newest Heroes star, just with a whole lotta eye makeup and full-on bangs.

"I got bangs to differentiate myself, so I don't look like Hayden and Ali's love child," Kristen says of her blond costars. "I go back and forth every week. It's a love/hate relationship." For me, it's more the latter than the former. Her Veronica Mars look was much cuter than this new blunt 'do.

After posing for a few pics, Kristen and Rachel chat on one of the leather sofas. But their tête-à-tête is suddenly interrupted when Trina Turk-clad Hayden Panettiere arrives.

Just a foot away, another convo comes to a halt. The minute Ashley Olsen makes her entrance, Louboutin stops his exchange with Olivia Wilde to divert his full attention to his pint-size fan. The two hug, exchange words then clink wine glasses. It's a match made in heaven: One of the world's most famous shoe designers and the millionaire trendsetter wearing his fierce studded boots.
