Seeing movies is the best job in the world, but catching three in one day can be exhausting! Luckily, I had some good stuff to work with; otherwise, this sort of thing might be lethal. When I was living in NYC, it wasn't as nuts—I could see two or three flicks all in midtown Manhattan, walking to each screening. Here in La-La Land, it's another story.
The day started on the Paramount lot, which is pretty far east in town. I checked out Year of the Dog, which, I have to say, may be the sweetest and most heartwarming film I've seen this year. Molly Shannon is so endearing and Peter Sarsgaard is great as always. The film reminded me of my sister, Hannah, and it just worked.
Then I raced west to Culver City for a Perfect Stranger screening the studio was nice enough to set up for me. (What up, Nat!) I got to say, even though people are talking and saying how awful this thing looks, I was pleasantly surprised.

Halle Berry and Giovanni Ribisi are just straight-up talented, and they can make anything engaging. From there, it was a dash out to Santa Monica for Hot Rod, Andy Samberg's new comedy dropping sometime this summer.

The studios saw how Borat took its time and built buzz last year, and they're trying to do the same with their laffers this year. Is Samberg the next Sandler, Carrey, or Ferrell? Time will tell, but he does deliver a funny flick right out of the gate.
So, 50 L.A. miles and three movies later, I've lived to tell the tale. Next up, a celebrity tree planting, Halle Berry interview, and finally, finally, I get to see Grindhouse. The saga continues...
