Theron Ready to Flex on "Flux" Set

Charlize Theron is off the tramp and ready to start vamping again on set of Aeon Flux.

The Oscar-winning stunner held up production of her sci-fi flick after she wrenched her neck during an on-set trampoline accident Aug. 31. "It's a very physically demanding role," the film's unit publicist explained to E! Online earlier this month. The actress had trained four hours a day for three months to get to the point where she could flip around--in high-heels--like the sexy cartoon character.

Production on the film had shut down immediately following Theron's accident. Filmmakers fretted about the future of the project while the actress recuperated in Los Angeles.

Come Monday, however, cameras will role once again in Berlin, much to the relief of Paramount and MTV Films execs, who are producing the movie.

Expectations are running high for the feature adaptation of the animated MTV cult hit after Theron's Oscar win last year for Monster. Paramount is hoping for better results than its last estrogen action film, 2003's Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. The sequel to the moderately successful Tomb Raider tanked at the box office and may have been the final entry in the videogame vixen franchise.

Aeon Flux features Theron in nearly every scene, according to Variety, and the film's success or failure could hinge on her performance.

The South African-born star portrays the titular mysterious secret agent from the Monican Republic in the film based on the animated series that first gained notoriety in the early 1990s on MTV's animated series Liquid Television. A two-hour animated feature film was released in 1995. Fans of the show might be disappointed to know that unlike the first two seasons of the animated series, there will be dialogue (penned by Crazy/Beautiful writer Phil Hay) in the feature.

As a former ballet dancer, Theron, 29, is expected to bring her considerable physical talents to the lead role as the acrobatic antihero. The actress, who gained weight and wore prosthetic makeup to play Monster's real-life serial killer Aileen Wournos, has slimmed down and dyed her blonde hair black to play the futuristic spy.

Frances McDormand costars in the film, which is due next year.
