"The Matrix" Reloads
The action-packed cyberspace thriller jump kicked over Life, last week's No. 1 movie, to regain top box office honors. Exhibitor Relations Inc. estimated the Warner Bros. hit, starring Keanu Reeves, earned approximately $12.9 million this weekend, bringing its four-week gross to an estimated $117.3 million.
In second place Universal's comedy Life, starring Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence, earned around $11.6 million.
Two new movies broke into the Top 10. Pushing Tin, about the stressful life of air-traffic controllers, landed in fourth place with an estimated $3.2 million; Lost & Found, which allows David Spade to romance gorgeous Sophie Marceau, grossed $3.1 million in sixth place.
In limited release Election, a comedy about high school politics, averaged a promising $20,000 per screen in just six sites.
