We knew this was too good to be true.

While tabloid talk claimed Robert Pattinson would be hitting the studio soon to record his debut album, MTV (via R.Pattz's trusty reps) is putting the poo-poo on these reports. So much for swoonin' to his fab croonin'.

So who will be taking over musical duties for the upcoming Twilight flick?

Uh, Bruno Mars?

The singer announced on his website today that a track called "It Will Rain" will be featured on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 soundtrack.

While we've certainly dug a few of Bruno's tunes, we don't really see his type of music vibing with this par-tick flick. But we're certainly willing to have him prove us wrong when his song will hit the web on Sept. 27.

Honestly, we were just hoping for something a little more, well, epic for the biggest vampire film since, like, ever. Let's hope Bill Condon and his crew have something more classically Twilight-tastic (or just sexier) for the movie's wedding and honeymoon scenes.

And as for R.Pattz?

We're cool with him sticking to the film thing...for now. It was a little too "Glee star" of him to try to break into the music scene while promoting a box office phemon, anyway.

We'd settle for him taking a page from GF Kristen Stewart and appearing in a music video sometime soon tho.
