Christie's Images LTD. 2011Apart from living a life filled with hot men, great movie roles and some of the best rocks in the world, Elizabeth Taylor is perhaps best known for her outspoken fight against AIDS—she started promoting the cause in Hollywood when nobody else was touching the subject.
So, you want to know how you can help Elizabeth, who died last March, keep her good works alive?
Go check out an exhibition of Elizabeth's jewels, clothes and film memorabilia, Oct 13 through 16, at MOCA (Pacific Design Center) in Los Angeles. This is an advance look at the auction of Ms. Taylor's massively enviable possessions, many of which will be sold off by Christie's at the end of this year.
Proceeds from the exhibition's ticket-sales (which is also traveling to many other cities) will go to the Elizabeth Taylor Foundation, which continues her iconic battle against AIDS.
In the L.A. stop-over, I hear you'll get to take a peek at the 33.19-carat Krupp diamond she often wore (I've seen it, and it alone is worth the price of admission), as well as hordes of other totally ga-ga jewels and artworks, including the famous Andy Warhol portrait, which I always considered the best likeness anybody ever got of the broad.
And, yes, she was a broad—and proud of it. So much so, she'd gladly approve of selling a ticket to an inside peek at her life—just so she could continue helping others.
