It's why we're so obsessed with The Hunger Games' Katniss (and Jennifer Lawrence too, duh) and Snow White and the Huntsman's Snow (puh-lease, did you really think our Kristen Stewart shout-out was going to be Bella Swan?).
But after peeping the trailer for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, we think we forgot the baddest be-yotch of all:
Lisbeth Salander!
Original Salander Noomi Rapace just oozed badassery in the Swedish original, and relative noob Rooney Mara doesn't look like she loses anything in the way of that kickass spirit in this remake, part of the reason we think it looks absolutely parfait.
We're terribly sick of the damsel in distress crapola that the Cineplex has been feeding us since...well, forever. We like to see babes that take things into their own hands and aren't afraid to tell the dudes around them to eff off.
That's what young girls should be watching, right? Well, maybe not teenage girls when it comes to violence-happy Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
And Lisbeth, with her Mohawk and goth ‘tude, fits that bill. She says what she wants, she does what she wants and she couldn't care less what people around her think. Yeah, she gets in some serious (like, life-threatening) trouble, but throughout it all, she's always cool—and we totally dig it.
