Talk Like a Pirate Day: A Sit-Down with the Cast
Disney Enterprises
Check back soon for all the scoop from the Pirates premiere!
Today, I powwowed with the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (minus Johnny Depp, who is overseas, and my future wife, Keira Knightley).
Here's a quick look at some of the highlights from the interviews—which, of course, you'll be able to see in their entirety on Daily 10. Then we'll post the clips right here in the Lyons Den.Geoffrey Rush Used to Live with Mel Gibson: Who knew?! Back before Geoffrey's Oscar win for Shine and Mel's win for Braveheart, the two struggling actors shared a one-room studio apartment while doing a stage production of Waiting for Godot. Rush said all they did was grind carrots in a juicer and drink carrot juice all day.
Disney Emterprises
Bill Nighy Loves Action Figures: He always gets a kick out of seeing the figures based on his movie characters (for Underworld and Pirates). He's very proud that the latest Davy Jones collectible comes with a tiny chest and its own lock and key.
Orlando Bloom Is a Dancing Maniac: I've seen him around town, cutting a rug at spots like Hyde, Teddy's and Winston's. For real, the dude can dance. And what about his character, Will? Orlando says he's perfectly content with the franchise being done...for now. He's ready to move on and try other things—more producing in the future (he did Haven) and an upcoming play in London's famed West End.
Naomie Harris Never Gets Recognized for Pirates: Hey, it's because she looks nothing like her character. I wouldn't recognize her from one movie to the next, actually, and that has almost become her trademark. She, too, is content with moving on from the franchise. After two pirate films, she's ready to change gears. She has a few indie films in production right now, one with Josh Hartnett called August and another with Forest Whitaker.
Okay, one of the most powerful and accomplished people in the history of Hollywood is walking in the door right now, so I gotta split. I'm talking, of course, about Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of all producers. Wonder if there will be a fourth Beverly Hills Cop? We'll find out...peace!
