Sundancing with the Stars

Jennifer Aniston, Justin Timberlake, Katie Holmes--if nothing else, the Sundance Film Festival has gotten the attention of the paparazzi.

There is no guarantee that Aniston, Timberlake or Holmes will attend Robert Redford's premiere U.S. proving ground for independent film, to be held Jan. 19-29 in Park City, Utah. But they definitely will be there in big-screen form.

Bruce Willis, Ashley Judd, Jessica Biel, Wilmer Valderrama and The O.C.'s Adam Brody are other members of the klieg-light-attracting crowd to be represented.

As unveiled this week, the 2006 Sundance lineup will boast 120 feature films--from the opening night premiere of the ensemble comedy-drama Friends with Money, featuring Aniston, to the closing night premiere of Alpha Dog, the ripped-from-the-headlines tale of drug deal gone deadly wrong, starring Timberlake and Willis.

Here's a look at other festival highlights:

Come Early Morning: Big Daddy's Joey Lauren Adams goes behind the camera as the writer/director of this character drama about a messed-up small-town woman played by Judd. Sherrybaby: The obligatory Maggie Gyllenhaal entry.
Stay: Bobcat Goldthwait (billed here simply as Bob Goldthwait) presents his long-awaited big-screen followup to Shakes the Clown.
Art School Confidential: The latest insiders' look at outsiders from director Terry Zwigoff (Bad Santa, Ghost World).
The Darwin Awards: Joseph Fiennes and Winona Ryder (with an assist from Valderrama, among others) star in this comedy about people who "kill themselves in really stupid ways."
Little Miss Sunshine: Deflowered Steve Carell hits the road in this comedy about kiddie beauty pageants.
The Illusionist: Edward Norton probably will not pull a rabbit out of a hat in this serious period piece about a magician. Biel costars.
Off the Black: Nick Nolte dons a mask in this drama about a high-school baseball umpire.
The Night Listener: Robin Williams, who played an Army deejay in Good Morning, Vietnam, goes back into the studio for this drama about a radio talk host.
Thank You for Smoking: Aaron Eckhart toplines this satire about a spinmaster for the tobacco lobby. Holmes and Brody are among the name costars, as are Rob Lowe and Robert Duvall.
All Aboard: Rosie's Family Cruise: A documentary about what Rosie O'Donnell did on her summer vacation. Awesome, I F--kin' Shot That! Director Nathanial Hornblower (aka, Adam Yauch) assembles fan-shot footage of a 2004 Beastie Boys concert.
Everyone Stares: The Police Inside Out: Drummer Stewart Copeland dusts off his home movies of life with the iconic band.
This Film Is Not Yet Rated: A documentary about the machinations of the movie ratings' board.
The World According to Sesame Street: Bert, Ernie, et al., are exposed in this documentary about "the unexpected dynamics" of the long-running children's show.

Of the Sundance slate, 16 films, including Come Early Morning, Sherrybaby and Stay, are entered in the dramatic competition, launching pad for the likes of American Splendor, Girlfight and The Brothers McMullen.
