Style Showdown: Reese Witherspoon vs. Jessica Simpson

Between weight and romance issues lately, Jessica Simpson has had a rough ride so we'll go easy on her. After all, she really did get it almost right with the L'Wren Scott sheath she wore on Letterman.

Belting it enhanced her hourglass silhouette but when you're under 5'4, it's extremely hard to pull of a hemline that falls below the knee. Fellow petite pretty person Reese Witherspoon must know this because she shortened the dress when she wore it last year.

But we're still rooting for Jess—she just needs the number of a good tailor. Or do you think she's pulled off this patterned look better than Reese?
