Stuck in My Head: The Sound of Waterfalls

Song of the Week: "Waterfalls" by TLC
The TLC hit is so haunting me. But I'm not the only one. The song "Waterfalls" is chasing us all down. Here's my personal experience.
Part One: The Wendell Baker Story
I go to the premiere of The Wendell Baker Story, a movie written and directed by Luke Wilson and his hot yet less photographed brother Andrew Wilson. Naturally, Luke stars—and oh does he work it. You've never seen someone have so much fun doing sleaze. Seriously.

My favorite scene is when Owen Wilson and Eddie Griffin are chillin' and talking over their no-good plan. Out of nowhere, they bust out and start singing "Waterfalls." I couldn't get that scene out of my mind when I went to the party at Stone Rose, which was sponsored by L.A. Confidential magazine. Fun fact: Original E! Online Party Girl Lara Morgenson works at the mag now. And that could explain why the party was such a smash. At 1 in the morning, there were still Wilsons in the house, which is very impressive for a premiere. Of course, I'm biased because I got to talk TLC with Owen.
"I don't know why I started singing that song," Owen laughed. "I guess it always sounded like kind of a funny song, and the idea of me and Eddie singing it...I don't know why, but for some reason it made me laugh. I don't know if it made anybody else laugh."
Yes it did, I assured him. But did you at least give him a heads-up?
"Yeah, because the scene actually went on a little longer," Owen continued. "And then he started telling me some of the verses. And I felt somehow kind of inclined to say 'stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to.' It's just a beautiful message. People talk about Bob Dylan. I'll put the lyrics to 'Waterfalls' up against anything."
You go, Ow. Side note: His girlfriend, Kate Hudson, hung out with friends a few feet away. (Another side note: This is a good couple. They are so not clingy and codependent and trying to prove that they are attracted to each other by publicly groping 24/7. Nice.)

Part Two: Molly Shannon and Lorne Michaels on Saturday Night Live
Molly headed back to her old stomping and kicking and spastically flailing ground at 30 Rock to promote her movie Year of the Dog. The best sketch was a '90s flashback, when she confronts Lorne Michaels about her infatuation with him. Not knowing how else to get rid of her, he presses play on his CD player and out comes "Waterfalls." They proceed to dissect the song, with Molly all, "Are you telling me to stick to the rivers and the lakes that I know?"
Man, don't you love it when SNL is actually funny?
