Stevie Sued by Part-Time Lover

Stevie Wonder can't be overjoyed over a love gone bad--or the $30 million lawsuit spawned by the breakup.

An ex-girlfriend has signed, sealed and delivered a salacious palimony suit against the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, claiming, among other things, that he gave her herpes.

Angela McAfee filed the suit Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court. She claimed the 51-year-old singer, whose real name is Steveland Morris, never told her he had the sexually transmitted disease and infected her sometime during their five years together. She was diagnosed with genital herpes in October 2000, the suit says. She also claims Wonder broke a promise to support her for the rest of her life.

Wonder denies the charges.

According to court documents, Morris courted McAfee for more than 10 years. In 1996, he got her to quit her job as a wardrobe consultant and to move into his L.A. spread. At the time, she claims they reached a verbal agreement that he would be the sole breadwinner and she'd become a homemaker.

During their five years of cohabitation, McAfee says she helped the Motown great with medical, personal and family problems. She says she redesigned his home with Braille inscriptions and put him on a strict diet and exercise regiment to help him control high cholesterol, high blood pressure and weight problems.

She alleges that Wonder promised her lifetime support even if they split, which, according to the suit, happened in February, when Wonder moved out.

Wonder's camp, meanwhile, vehemently denies the allegations. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned," his lawyer, Laura Wasser, says in a sharply worded statement. "We're sorry that Ms. McAfee has chosen not to be truthful. For the record, Stevie Wonder never entered into any contract with her, oral, written or implied."

As for the venereal disease allegation? "Since he does not have herpes, one can only wonder where she contracted the disease," Wasser says. (Guess neither side is planning on taking the higher ground in this case.)

The lawyer also denies that McAfee ever redesigned Wonder's house and closes by saying the musician and his second wife, Karen Millard-Morris, are the pround parents of a baby boy, born last month.
