Steve-O's Pot Spurs Police Probe

Here's a switch: Jackass and Wild Boys purveyor Steve-O is not the one in trouble. No, this time, it's members of L.A.'s Finest that could be facing disciplinary actions thanks to the MTV prankster.

He was exiting the Hollywood celeb hangout Mood around 3 a.m. on Nov. 2 when he encountered a photographer working for TMZ.com. Steve-O, whose real name is Steve Glover, pulled out what appeared to be a substantial amount of marijuana and showed it off for the cameras.

"I've been smoking pot all night," he declares, taking several whiffs of the weed and declaring he wants to party.

Seconds later, he spots a squad car and approaches the officers.

"We all saw you," one of the officers says, per the videotape on TMZ.com.

"You saw me with the weed?" asks Glover. He then laughs, replies, "No way, dude," and gives them a knuckle-to-knuckle shake before adding as he walks away: "I had a 50 Cent movie premiere. Of course, I had a proper bag."

One of the officers says, "I'm not buying it."

Moments later, when asked by the TMZ cameraman what the deal was with the police, Glover says, "Oh, it's cool man. They just wanted to make sure I didn't have the weed anymore."

According to TMZ.com spokeswoman Gillian Sheldon, the on-demand entertainment network subsequently contacted Los Angeles Police Department Captain Michael Moriarity, commanding officer of the Hollywood Patrol Division, and showed him the video.

As a result, the LAPD have since launched an internal probe of the matter.

"The department is conducting an administrative investigation to determine if any policy or procedure was violated in regards to our officers," an LAPD spokeswoman told E! Online.

There was no immediate comment from Steve-O's reps.

It's the second incident in recent days that has the appearance of officers giving special treatment to a celebrity.

Last week, TMZ.com posted a video showing Paris Hilton and her new beau, Greek shipping heir Stavros Niachros, plowing her Bentley into a parked truck outside the Element nightclub on Nov. 9. The tape seems to show them being let off the hook by police, who not only failed to write an accident report, but didn't conduct a field sobriety test. The LAPD is investigating that incident as well.

As for Steve-O, it's not the first time his hard-partying ways have made headlines.

In September, he turned up thoroughly soused on Comedy Central's Too Late with Adam Carolla. In one of the more bizarre late-night TV moments in recent memory, he spewed obscenities, spat and tried to tackle Carolla to the ground.

But the Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Clown College alum ended up taking a tumble, shattering a glass tabletop with his foot and slicing open his leg. Carolla cut to commercial break while security escorted Glover off the set. In a subsequent interview, the entertainer proudly said he was so drunk he couldn't even remember ever taping the show.

Carolla invited a sobered-up Steve-O back to Too Late weeks later, and the segment went off without a hitch.

In May 2003, Glover was busted in Sweden on drug possession and smuggling charges after joking to local reporters that he swallowed a condom full of ganga to circumvent the Scandinavian country's strict anti-drug laws.

He eventually reached a plea agreement, copping to two minor counts of possessing less than five grams of marijuana and Ecstasy in exchange for no jail time and a $5,800 fine.
