Stars in Stripes
Celebrities are showing off their stripes—bold bands of black and white are appearing on everyone from Kate Moss and Gwen Stefani to Sienna Miller and Caroline D'Amore. But will the look work on mere mortals? What about the fashion rule that horizontal stripes make you look fat?
Not in this case, says style expert Alle Fister. "Larger blocks of black and white help to segment your frame, breaking up your look and helping you to appear more trim." As for the Hamburglar effect of this particular perp-friendly pattern? Try using stripes on a diagonal, says Fister. "It's a unique variation that won't have you looking like a prisoner." Unless, of course, you're forced to sport court-mandated couture.
