Alex Da Silva, former choreographer of Fox's So You Think You Can Dance, was handed a 10-year prison sentence today for raping a female student and assaulting another and was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

So says American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance executive producer Nigel Lythgoe when we asked him which of his two über-popular shows he wants to win the Outstanding Reality-Competition Program Emmy on Sept. 18.
Still, the time must come to hand the sweets over to one while the other sulks in the corner. So which show will Nigel be rooting for on Emmy night? Nigel has made his choice:

Shane Sparks is out of slick moves.
The hip-hop choreographer who used to showcase his talents on So You Think You Can Dance pleaded no contest today to one felony count of unlawful intercourse with a minor under the age of 16 and was sentenced to 270 days in jail.
It could have been worse, though.

It was a particularly underwhelming final performance night at So You Think You Can Dance. Even with four performances plus an additional solo for each of the top four, it was a roller-coaster of good and bad that had the judges butting heads and making clear calls on who they think will walk away with the title of America's favorite dancer.
