Sizemore Lashes Out

Tom Sizemore may be sober, but he still knows how to generate headlines.

In a dramatic Dateline interview Friday, the jail-bound actor cried conspiracy and even walked off the set of the NBC newsmagazine when asked a tough question.

The wide-ranging interview--Sizemore's first since being sentenced to 17 months in jail and four months in a drug treatment facility, per NBC--touched on his life since his multiple drug and assault convictions.

"It makes me very sad," said a tearful Sizemore when asked about losing his $18 million Los Angeles home, which once belonged to Gary Cooper, to crystal methamphetamine addiction, back taxes and mounting legal bills.

But the 43-year-old, who recently lived in a converted garage and has acknowledged he is broke and trying to support an unnamed pregnant girlfriend, showed his range during the interview by quickly becoming angry when asked if he was crying crocodile tears in a tearful plea to a Los Angeles judge prior to his sentencing after drug-related parole violations.

"I'm not acting right now...I'm done...[expletive deleted] the press," Sizemore barked after a Dateline correspondent asked if the Black Hawk Down star faked courtroom dramatics for the judge.

Then, in a dramatic and embarrassing scene captured by Dateline cameras, the actor attempted to storm off the set, only to inadvertently drag a chair with him as he tried to untangle himself from his microphone.

Sizemore eventually returned, if only to get in a few digs at his former girlfriend-turned-enemy, Heidi Fleiss.

"All those things that were my life became obscured by four words, 'Tom Sizemore hit me,'" the actor said. Sizemore insists he never injured the onetime Hollywood madam, despite his conviction by a jury for the Apr. 8, 2003 incident at the Four Seasons hotel in which Fleiss claims she sustained severe injuries to the face and neck from a Sizemore smack down.

"I never laid a hand on her," Sizemore insisted. "I'm not tough at all," he continued. "I pretend...I'm a sissy."

Sizemore contends that Fleiss, who is reportedly set to open up a legal brothel in Nevada by 2006, lied on the witness stand and even hinted he may sue her.

"I want a billion dollars," he said Friday. Acknowledging that he might not be able to get his good name back, or the billion, he reduced the figure. "I'll settle for 100 million," he said.

The newly sober (less than three weeks) 43-year-old also recently revealed to the Los Angeles Times that he tried to commit suicide shortly after his trial loss to Fleiss. "She harassed me," he told the Times Sunday."For every phone call I made to her, she made 300 to me."

Despite all his problems, Sizemore is still acting. He recently wrapped work on a small film called Fear Itself, according to the Los Angeles Times. While the actor is presumably pulling in considerably less than his multimillion-dollar paydays for films such as Saving Private Ryan, he is happy just to be working.

"I love to work," Sizemore told the Times on Sunday. "I love acting. I feel that my best work is in front of me. I don't know why I became more optimistic. Well, it's because people still keep offering me movies."

Sizemore is next due in court April 14 to prove to a judge he has signed up for treatment in a drug treatment facility.
