"Six Feet" Star Delivers!
Six Feet Under star Rachel Griffiths was on cloud nine after giving birth this weekend.
The Aussie actress and hubby Andrew Taylor welcomed their first child into the world around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday in Melbourne, Australia.
Banjo Patrick Taylor weighed in at seven and a half pounds.
Griffith's publicist told reporters that mother, father and baby were doing very well. "He's very blond and has big hands," she said of Banjo.
The delivery came just a day after Griffiths made a last-minute appearance at the Australian Film Institute Awards to present a Best Actress award to fellow thesp and friend Toni Collette.
"She's about to burst," was the reaction of her Muriel's Wedding costar upon accepting the honor for Japanese Story, an Australian film.
Fellow Melbourne-ites Griffiths and Taylor, an artist, tied the knot in a moonlit ceremony this past New Year's Eve. The two were longtime friends.
Before hooking up with Taylor, Griffiths briefly dated Eric Stoltz while the two were filming the indie film Very Annie Mary in 2000.
Griffiths is expected to spend the next few months Down Under with family before returning Stateside in February to shoot the fourth installment of Six Feet Under. No word on when the season will debut.
She will be seen on the big screen next year in the Outback-inspired outlaw flick Ned Kelly opposite fellow countrymen Heath Ledger and Naomi Watts. The film's scheduled for a Mar. 26 release.
