Siegfried & Roy Video Mystery

The feds want to get their hands on a videotape of Siegfried & Roy's final show, but so far the gory footage remains under wraps.

Feld Entertainment, which produced the Las Vegas-based magic show, has refused to turn over the tape--showing Roy Horn getting mauled by a 600-pound tiger--despite two subpoenas from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

A statement from the company is expected later today.

Meanwhile, the government agency is expected to pursue other legal avenues to get their hands on a copy as part of its investigation into the Oct. 3, 2003 attack.

During last year's routine gone wrong, Horn was attacked by his beloved white tiger Montecore before a sold-out crowd at the Mirage casino.

The cat-taming illusionist lost massive amounts of blood and suffered a stroke following the attack. Doctors even removed part of his skull to relieve pressure on his brain.

Horn has since made something of a recovery; he was most recently spotted Tuesday night at the Cuban revue "Havana Night Club" at the Stardust hotel-casino, a show that he and Siegfried Fischbacher are coproducing. Horn reportedly gave a thumbs-up from his wheelchair and met with performers after the show.

Siegfried & Roy's show hasn't proved as resilient, however, closing permanently after the attack.

All along, Roy's reps have maintained that the attack was simply an accident, but the USDA has kept open an investigation into possible violations of the Animal Welfare Act. Abuse of the act could result in a fine and suspended or revoked licenses. "But an investigation doesn't mean something bad's going to happen," said USDA spokesperson Jim Rogers. "We just need to determine if any of our regulations were violated."

It's not all bad news for the flamboyant Sin City duo: The two will be present in 'toon form for NBC's upcoming animated sitcom Father of the Pride, loosely based on their Vegas menagerie. The show premieres Aug. 31.
