Sheryl Crow's In-Flight Show
All she wants to do is have some fun...and maybe score a free bag of peanuts.
Grammy-winning crooner Sheryl Crow has signed on to perform a 40-minute concert while flying the friendly skies aboard a United Airlines flight from Chicago to Los Angeles.
The May 4 show marks the launch of United's partnership with Sony's new Connect Online Music Service.
Sony Connect intends to operate in a manner similar to Apple's iTunes, offering around 500,000 songs for download at 99 cents each, or $9.95 for a full album.
Through United's new "Music for Miles" program, frequent fliers would have the option to be frequent downloaders on Sony Connect by earning music with their miles. Conversely, they are also able to earn miles through their music purchases.
Both Websites launch later this spring, according to Dave Keenan, vice president of UAL Loyalty Services.
A group of Crow's fans and a number of invited guests ride along for the in-flight entertainment, during which Crow is set to perform an acoustic set accompanied by a guitar player. No word if Crow's biker beau, Lance Armstrong, might make the flight.
Once the plane lands, Crow is scheduled to perform again at a dual-purpose party--it also touts the launch of a new Sony digital Walkman.
Hopefully, the airborne gig goes smoothly, unsullied by turbulence and the like--otherwise Crow might have herself a new favorite mistake.
